With more than 15 years of installing, Team MRT found 4 common errors that customers make during installation of MRT No Drill hood struts so we are making things more simple by sharing the common error and fix so your hood strut installation is worry free and successful.

Error #1: Did NOT read the MRT provided instructions

Reading the installation instructions created by MRT BEFORE you start your installation just makes things easier.  They are written in a simple, step-by-step format and complemented with photos and videos to ensure success.

Error #2: Brackets installed on the wrong side

Hood and fender brackets are stamped with an “L” or an “R” on the back side.  L refers to the Left or driver side of the vehicle in most markets such as US and Canada.  (In the engineering world and for those who want to be more technical, L is left of vehicle center line and R is to the right of vehicle center line as you sit facing the front window).

Error #3: Installed brackets upside down!

Once the brackets are installed, if you see the “L” or “R” stamp on them then the brackets are upside down.  Take them off, turn the brackets over and reinstall.

Error #4:  MRT logo is facing the wrong way!

As you get ready to install gas struts, make sure the larger part of the cylinder is on the top and the MRT logo is facing outward.  Once you’ve confirmed orientation, align the ball stud and press into place.

Every enthusiast needs to customize their ride with a hood strut kit that removes the rather ugly stock prop rod and replaces it with an amazing lift system that raises your hood with ease.  MRT hood strut kits are designed for do-it-yourself install using simple tools while guided by installation instructions that contain pictures AND videos to make things EXTRA easy.
