MRT Performance Exhausts: Supply Chain Issue or Not?

You’ve probably heard a lot about supply chain issues in recent years. Industries from baby food to car parts have seen production delays due to supply chain problems. And then there’s the matter of getting the finished product to customers. For many companies, its made things like quick shipping and express delivery a thing of the past.

At MRT, we are committed to keeping our inventory of aftermarket exhaust systems and custom accessories ready to ship with fast delivery. In this article, we look at how a supply chain issue can occur and what we’re doing to keep things running smoothly.

What is a Supply Chain?

The supply chain is the network of resources, people, information and other factors that go into creating and delivering products or services. This includes planning, raw materials, equipment, labor, maintenance supplies, packaging and transportation. If there is a shortage or delay in any part of the supply chain, it can have a significant impact on when the customer receives the product or service.

The MRT Supply Chain

MRT is a niche manufacturing company that focuses on exhaust systems and a few other products like hood struts. There are many advantages to this, particularly when it comes to managing the supply chain. Our flexible manufacturing capability allows us to quickly switch machine tooling and production schedules. Unlike larger companies, we can rapidly react to customer demand so there’s no delay.

Furthermore, MRT uses demand planning and analysis to project material and supply needs. This ensures we have the right raw materials in-house to handcraft and ship our exhaust systems, hood strut kits and other products.

Finally, MRT also has in-house paint capability and production management for our custom matte-black exhaust tips. By keeping these things under one roof, we’re able to have them ready to ship in an average of 2.5 days — and by not depending on another company, there’s one fewer cog in the supply chain network that can cause issues.

Fast Shipping from MRT

By implementing these practices, MRT can still offer fast shipping on nearly our entire line of performance parts — plus free delivery on selected items. If MRT receives a non-custom order by 2 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, we will process and ship that order the same day. We also hold some matte black tip inventory on high-volume items like Explorer, Bronco and select Camaro systems to get them out the door fast.

Shipping is defined as having the label created, the box packaged and the order sitting on our dock for pickup by a shipping company (USPS, FedEx, etc.). Most orders have quick delivery in 2 to 5 days. You also can upgrade to express shipping. However, MRT can’t be responsible for the transit time, as shipping companies operate beyond our control. Therefore, we can’t guarantee delivery times.
